Joinery - Workshop Order to Site Installation

Convert the accepted quote into a confirmed job. Record the full specification including timber species, finish, ironmongery, and delivery date. Raise a works order and assign to the workshop manager.

Conduct a site survey to take final measurements, confirm fixing methods, check access routes, and note any site constraints. Complete a digital form with photos before leaving site.

Raise purchase orders for timber, sheet materials, hardware, finishes, and specialist components. Confirm supplier lead times against the production window and agreed installation date.

Manufacture joinery items against the works order. Record each item as completed. Run a pre-delivery quality inspection covering dimensions, finish, and ironmongery function before loading.

Arrange and coordinate delivery to site. Issue a delivery note listing all items dispatched. Agree unloading sequence and temporary storage with the main contractor or client.

Install joinery on site. Walk through with the client or site manager on completion, document any snagging items, obtain written sign-off, and issue the final invoice.

Workshop production starts before final site measurements are confirmed, resulting in pieces that do not fit and costly rework that cannot be recharged to the client.

Material orders are placed by email or phone with no link to the works order, making it impossible to see what has been ordered, what has arrived, and what is still outstanding without chasing suppliers individually.

Installation dates are booked before the workshop has completed the items, causing site delays and damaging relationships with main contractors who have other trades waiting.
