For many, data can be overwhelming. When it comes to marketing, you often lean on an agency that monitor things like click-through rates and conversion rates as they know how to interpret this and use that to plan the next steps for better results.

More and more accountants have moved away from traditional accounting software’s in favour of cloud-based platforms which offer much more up to the minute information.

While this may seem like voodoo, they can do this as they have learned how to understand those particular sets of business data.

The trick with this is they know their piece of the puzzle and have learned how to understand data and numbers to apply that knowledge to those core areas.

But let’s face it – no one knows your business better than you.

Much of the answer to this depends on the nature of your business, what products or services you sell, who your customers are, and the size of your business.

One thing is for sure, is even (and often especially) smaller businesses can reap more benefit from understanding the numbers at an early stage.

  • How many leads do you need to get a sale?
    • Could that number be reduced?
    • How could you increase those leads?
  • What products or services are the most profitable?
    • Could you focus more effort on them?
    • Could you negotiate better pricing from suppliers on other products?
  • Which of your customers makes you the most money?
    • How can you acquire more of that type of customer?
    • What is it about them that makes them the most profitable?

These are just a few of the types of information you want readily available to enable you to ask those types of crucial questions.
